Review: Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Fans have been waiting an insurable amount of time for the release of the next Marvel Vs. Capcom game, eleven years to be exact. Finally after many game console generations have passed, MvC3 makes it's way onto the scene for the X-Box 360, PC and the Playstation 3. I have had the game for almost a month and I am greatly pleased by the game play, graphics and the nostalgia it offers.

It seems that Doctor Doom (Fantastic 4: Marvel), Albert Wesker (Resident Evil: Capcom) and various villains have joined up to try and take over the world, causing chaos between the two separate worlds. Their actions awaken the Earth eater Galactus (Fantastic Four: Marvel), who has set his sights on earth and is ready to feast. It is up to the heroes (and a few villians) of both worlds to come together and fight off this monstrous threat.

First off, the game play is fantastic and easy to learn. masters of MvC2 will enjoy the refresher while newbies can pick up the combo system with ease. The graphics, which looks like a bit of cell shading totally fits and gives off a nice comic book look. Each character comes equipped with their own super move, and in team play the hyper combo finish is back with a vengeance! Most of the characters are easy to control and have move sets that can lead into dangerous combos, while some are not even worth playing. As with each fighting game, different strokes for different folks.

The final fight is INSANE to say the least. First you have to battle carbon copies of two random villains, mostly Akuma (Street Fighter: Capcom) and Dormammu (Marvel: Dr. Strange). After you beat them, you have to fight a larger than life Galactus. This is the challenging part because you fight him in two stages. The first half of his life he attacks with brute strength, the second he attacks with devastating energy blasts. Beating him is a great challenge and will indeed cause frustration and swearing. Each player's ending is unique and correlates with the destruction of Galactus.

Overall..it is a fantastic game that many will enjoy. Go get it!
